Geological/Historical Information

Nuummite is thought to be of volcanic origin and was formed about 3 billion years ago. Metamorphic alteration of the rock resulted in the striking mixture of crystals which gives nuummite its unique appearance.
Metamorphic rock, composed of Anthophyllite and Gedrite.
Most found at Nuuk Greenland for which stone is name.
Elongated crystals, often in sheaf-like groups. Flashes of colour (mainly bronze but may have silver, blue, green, red tones too) within a black stone (metamorphosed igneous).
